Cinema Club: Thelmarama in Residence

  • Crocker Art Museum 216 O Street Sacramento, CA, 95814 United States (map)

Update: Thank you so much to everyone who came to Thelmarama’s second screening at the Crocker Art Museum. Our theme was Touching Grass and we focused on paintings in the Early California collection. The three film choices were First Cow, Days of Heaven, and Aguirre, the Wrath of God. Thelma picked First Cow and we were honored to have watched this film in the Crocker’s historic ballroom. Special thank you again to Willow Germs, Yolo County Archives, and California Revealed for allowing us to watch Oaks Heritage Trees of Sacramento Valley.

We're exploring themes of nature and human interaction within the Crocker's permanent collection and we're also hosting a short film screening on the history and impact of oak trees in the Sacramento Valley. Local conservation archivist Willow Germs presented Oaks, Heritage Trees of Sacramento Valley from the Yolo County Archives & California Revealed. As always, there are three movie choices: First Cow (2019) dir. by Kelly Reichardt, Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972) dir. by Werner Herzog, and Days of Heaven (1978) dir. by Terrence Malick, and our cat picks one. You won't know what she chooses until the day of!
