Thank you so much to everyone who came to our first screening at the Crocker Art Museum. We wanted our first screening to focus on an iconic piece within the Crocker’s permanent collection, Two Seated Figures, 1965. by Wayne Thiebaud (1920 - 2021.) We encourage you to view this painting in-person and consider how it relates to Love Streams (1984, dir. John Cassavetes), What’s Up, Doc? (1972, dir. Peter Bogdanovich), and Woman in the Dunes (1964, dir. Hiroshi Teshigahara). Thelma was inspired to pick What’s Up, Doc? after she explored the Crocker’s permanent collection.

Being in Sacramento, Wayne Thiebaud seemed like the most obvious choice. In this area you end up knowing so many people who knew Thiebaud personally and we actually lived a block away from him in Land Park. This painting and movie choice felt close to home for all of us.
